Shamrock Hill
Toshima Church, founded by Irish missionaries of the Order of St. Columban, has St. Patrick, an Irish saint, as its patron saint. Tara Hill in Navan, eastern Ireland, is a rural area with a large ancient burial mound nearby, and shamrocks (three-leaf clovers) grow wild all over it.
It is believed that Saint Patrick, the patron saint who spread Christianity to Ireland in the 5th century, used the three-leaf shamrock to explain the Christian doctrine of the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) to people in an easy-to-understand way.
This column will introduce the activities and interactions of various groups within Toshima Church, as well as stories that parishioners have heard through their interactions with various people.
